The peaceful environs of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, are the setting for this country home designed to take the most advantage of its idyllic lakeside setting. The house which formerly existed on the site was built close to the water’s edge and within a stream corridor. Therefore, the new house was required to maintain the existing footprint of the original. Great care was taken during the construction to protect the surrounding environment filled with wildlife and birds. The entire house, from the screen porch to the first floor master suite to the second floor office and exercise room with observation deck, was built to take best advantage of the views and landscaped surroundings. The pallet of stone and natural materials used on the exterior was intended to help the structure fit into its setting.

The setting for this house deep in the woods on a lake in Medford Lakes, New Jersey, required strict adherence to environmental guidelines, setbacks and lot coverage. This family home was designed with a combination of lakeside recreation living and year-round utility in mind. From the vast expanses of windows overlooking the lake to the use of natural materials in the design, the home was designed to fit comfortably into its site.
